Cobot Welding: The Future of Smart Welding Solutions
Cobot welding, or collaborative robot welding, represents a significant development in modern industry, seamlessly combining human experience and skill with the precise technical capabilities of robots. FAIRINO’s vision is to create a comprehensive ecosystem that prioritizes safety, usability, and rapid deployment in various production environments. These smart solutions enable robots to work alongside welders without heavy protective structures, significantly saving space and creating a flexible workspace. The systems are designed to be easily programmable, allowing even workers without prior coding experience to teach robots new movements through simple guidance. Technological innovations, such as real-time weld seam tracking and automatic deviation correction, ensure consistent quality in demanding applications. This reduces error costs and frees up professionals from routine tasks for more complex operations. FAIRINO’s goal is to provide companies with tools that improve competitiveness and make the future of intelligent manufacturing easily accessible in everyday industrial work. Thus, cobot welding serves as a bridge between traditional craftsmanship and fully automated production, significantly increasing efficiency.
Technology and Robot Models
FAIRINO offers several robot models tailored to various industrial needs:
-
FR3 series (FR3, FR3-WMS, FR3-WML) is specifically designed for applications requiring lightweight and portability. For example, the FR3-WMS weighs only 10.5 kg, enabling single-person transfer and quick deployment between different workstations.
-
FR5 series offers a wider 922 mm reach and a greater 5–7 kg payload. Specifically, model FR5-WML is equipped with a reach of up to 1900 mm, reducing the need to move the robot arm for welding large parts.
-
FR10 is suitable for more demanding industrial tasks with its 1400 mm reach and up to 14 kg maximum load, enabling efficient multi-station welding.
Smart Functions and Programming
Robot operation has been made as simple as possible; they support “drag-and-teach” teaching and graphical programming, allowing the user to start work in just a few minutes without prior experience. Smart functions, such as Arc Tracking and Seam Tracking, monitor the welding process in real-time. They detect seam deviations based on voltage and current or contact sensors and automatically adjust the robot’s path to ensure quality. Additionally, Intelligent Continuation functionality allows the welding to continue precisely from the correct point after a disturbance or interruption.
Applications and Benefits
Cobot welding is widely applicable to various industries, such as shipbuilding, steel structure manufacturing, and automotive parts production. A 3D vision system and AI algorithms automatically recognize weld seams without manual modeling or programming. This increases production flexibility, especially for small series and complex parts, while simultaneously improving weld quality and reducing error costs.
