Kreon Onyx – Top-precision and mobility 3D measuring arm
The Kreon Onyx measuring arm is a top-tier industrial portable CMM solution that guarantees exceptional measurement accuracy in both contact measurement and 3D scanning. Its modular 6- or 7-axis structure and highly accurate resolution sensors make Onyx the most accurate measuring arm on the market. The integrated Onyx Skyline scanner enables fast, high-resolution scanning anywhere – whether of metal parts, plastic or composites.
Technical performance and modularity
Onyx is available in both 6- and 7-axis versions, enabling the device to be optimised for either pure contact measurement or versatile scanning. Highly accurate resolution sensors and an innovative aluminium-carbon-fibre construction guarantee tolerances below 0.010 mm, making it one of the most accurate measuring arms on the market. The integrated Onyx Skyline scanner enables fast, high-resolution data capture from all materials, including reflective metals, plastics and composites.
The working area of the device can be selected from 2 metres up to 5 metres. The innovative Leap-Frog feature allows the measuring range to be easily extended by moving the arm, making the measurement of even large assemblies smooth without loss of accuracy.
Ergonomics and advanced usability
Operating comfort has been raised to a new level in the Onyx range. The 7-axis model is equipped with a push-button-detachable EasyClip handle, which makes it easier to reach tight spots and improves ergonomics. In addition, the Renishaw PAA1 module can be quickly swapped by turning a lever. The device’s integrated QuickView display and control panel provide real-time information including battery charge, temperature and arm status, helping to anticipate any maintenance needs in advance.
Wireless freedom and on-site accuracy
Onyx is designed to operate flexibly where the need is greatest. Fully wireless data transfer via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and a hot-swappable battery ensure uninterrupted work: the battery lasts up to eight hours in contact measurement and four hours during active scanning. Built-in temperature compensation ensures that measurement results remain reliable even in changing conditions, without the need to control room temperature. All Onyx arms are calibrated to the strict ISO 10360 standard to ensure the highest quality.
