The Huveman CRDM series industrial drill machines’ drilling capacity is optimized to meet the most demanding needs of the heavy metal industry. At the core of the performance is the ability to manage large cutting torques while maintaining micron-level accuracy. The CRDM 3050X12/1 NG and CRDM 3050×16/1 models both offer a powerful 50 mm maximum drilling capacity for steel, enabling the efficient machining of massive components. In the NG version, the capacity can be expanded to up to 60 mm in certain conditions, highlighting the structural strength of the machine and the power of the transmission.

Utilizing the capacity is largely based on the MT5 (MK5) cartridge holder, which ensures maximum torque transfer to the tool without slipping. This is critical, especially when using large keyway shanks; the CRDM 3050X12/1 NG is capable of even M50 keyways, while the CRDM 3050×16/1 is optimized for M30 keyways. Powerful 3.5–4.0 kW cartridge motors combined with a multi-stage, hardened spline ensure that torque remains constant even at low speeds, which are required by large diameters.

The drilling capacity is complemented by a significant vertical stroke, which varies from 270 mm to 315 mm depending on the model. This allows for deep holes to be drilled with a single feed, significantly improving production efficiency. The automatic feed mechanism with multiple preset speed options ensures that the drill bit advances into the material with optimal pressure. This reduces tool wear and prevents material hardening during machining.

Mechanical stability is an absolute requirement for high drilling capacity. The hydraulic locking system used in Huveman’s models locks the drilling head, the longitudinal shank, and the pillar into one rigid assembly. This eliminates pillar deflection and machine vibrations, which are typical challenges when drilling at the upper limits of capacity. This ensures that the straightness of the hole and the hole diameter tolerances remain tight even in the most demanding machining operations.
