Intelligent Robot-Guided Laser Cladding Solution for Industry
Gweike GKS-LC3008R represents the pinnacle of industrial surface treatment and repair, combining high-power fiber laser technology and advanced robotics into a comprehensive solution. This six-axis industrial robot-equipped system is designed specifically for modifying component surfaces, enhancing wear resistance, and performing high-level repairs on damaged parts. The system’s core is a 4000 W – 12 000 W fiber laser source, enabling an extremely precise and energy-efficient cladding process compared to traditional methods.
Technologically, the GKS-LC3008R offers significant advantages, such as an exceptionally low dilution rate, ensuring the optimal properties of the cladding material are maintained. Laser cladding forms a strong metallurgical bond between the cladding and the base material, providing superior durability compared to traditional filler welding, spraying, or electrolytic cladding. Furthermore, the controlled heat input of the process minimizes workpiece distortion and the heat-affected zone (HAZ), which is critical in demanding machine building applications.
The system’s performance is designed to meet the needs of heavy industry. The robot arm’s 1831 mm radius of rotation and the ability to handle parts up to 3000 mm long and 800 mm in diameter make the equipment highly versatile. The large workbench, with a load capacity of up to 3000 kg, enables the efficient processing of massive axes, molds, and other industrial components. An integrated linear guide further expands the robot’s operating range, allowing for seamless movements in complex cladding operations.
Usability and productivity are emphasized in Gweike’s design. The system is optimized for continuous 24/7 automation, combined with fast programming and a short return on investment, making it a strategic investment for increasing production efficiency. An intelligent control system and precise powder feeding technology ensure consistent quality and minimize material waste. The GKS-LC3008R is not just a machine, but a holistic solution that extends the lifespan of components and elevates the manufacturing process to a new level with intelligent automation.
Other Advantages
- Best technology for cladding any shape => extends the service life of worn parts.
- Special arrangements for repairing parts (ideal if the part mold is no longer available or if too much time is required for new production).
- The most suitable technology for applying sorted materials.
- Well suited for almost net-shape manufacturing.
- Low dilution rate between the track and the workpiece (unlike other welding processes and a strong metallurgical bond).
- Low workpiece distortion and small heat-affected zone (HAZ).
- High cooling speed => fine microstructure.
- Wide material flexibility (metal, ceramics, even polymer).
- The part has no cracks and porosity. Compact technology.

Machine Operating Principle
The laser cladding process is implemented with fiber optics and a robot arm equipped with a cladding head, which is mounted on a linear guide. The robot arm controls the movement of the linear guide forward and backward, which allows for precise workpiece cladding processing. The workpiece is clamped between the workbench and front vice and rear pillar; the front vice takes care of the workpiece rotation, while the pillar moves in the longitudinal direction using a lifting function.
Advanced Surface Treatment and Large Capacity
Gweiken’s new surface modification technology offers exceptional material compatibility for demanding industrial needs. The system’s impressive 1831 mm maximum radius and the ability to handle workpieces up to 800 mm in diameter make it a highly efficient solution for precise and effective laser cladding of large-sized components.
Laser Coating Benefits Compared to Traditional Methods
Gweiken laser coating technology offers significant advantages compared to traditional filler welding, spraying, and electrolytic coating. The method’s low dilution rate ensures the purity of the coating and optimal properties, while excellent adhesion between the coating and the base material ensures a durable bond. The system is highly versatile, suitable for coating various materials and effectively manages large variations in particle size and material concentration.
