SURFSCAN – 2.5D-ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT FOR THE PLANAR SYSTEM
Many sheet metal machines produce parts that are not entirely two-dimensional. Parts may include moldings, mesh structures, small bends, pins, or other similar features. SurfScan integrates seamlessly into the Planar 2D inspection software, which allows for both the two-dimensional shape of the part and its precise measurement of 2.5D features with one click.
SurfScan is a high-resolution projector that is installed in the existing jib of the Planar system. The projector reflects structured light onto the part, which is captured by the Planar camera. Based on this, the system creates a three-dimensional point cloud from the upper surface of the part, which provides efficient but easy-to-use 3D or 2.5D inspection capability.
2D-TURN-OVER DESIGN
Two-dimensional turn-over design is a standard feature in every Planar system. Physical parts can be converted into digital DXF or DWG format CAD files in just a few seconds. The software enables data modification and finishing, such as standardizing hole sizes and trimming edges, which eliminates the need for manual measurement work and laborious CAD programming.
Turn-over design can be applied to physical parts as well as paper drawings, layouts, or electronic image files to create CAD images. There is no other system on the market that offers the same performance, speed, and ease of use.
